Thanks to so many folks for the Salmon Derby fundraiser
On August 14 Gold Beach High School and Lex's Landing joined forces to host the annual Salmon Derby Fundraiser. The event consisted of the fishing derby, a barbeque cooked dinner, and a raffle/auction with excellent prizes donated by local businesses. The event brought in approximately $2,500 and through the kindness of local merchants and Lex's Landing the proceeds all went to benefit Gold Beach High School.

My husband and I wish to extend a very heartfelt thanks to the lady who pulled up beside us at a stoplight in Brookings to get our attention to the fact that the left rear wheel on our truck was about to fall off! I wish we had been able to get her name. She was so right!

DeFazio will gladly debate Robinson
Perhaps the audience was unaware that you have given ‘debate dates' to DeFazio when you knew that Rep. DeFazio had to be in Washington for work. This of course results in an opportunity to use ‘dirty political tricks' to try and make Rep. DeFazio look ‘afraid' to debate you. Why don't you run on your positions and beliefs instead of having to stoop to this type of activity?

Congress has no legitimate right to Social Security trust
This letter addressed to Congressman Peter DeFazio, Senator Ron Wyden and Senator Jeff Merkley and speaks for the members of the three Curry County Senior Citizens Centers who are apprehensive and deeply aggrieved about the deliberations being conducted by the Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform convened by President Obama specifically formulated to reduce the indebtedness of the nation which now hovers over 13 trillion dollars.
