‘Swiftology': A study of Panther boss Kevin Swift
In a world full of ‘fuzzy lines' where everyday goals and aspirations are shaded in various degrees of a compromising slip-sliding-away, it's refreshing to know that some things are, well... still written in stone. Around JJ Stadium they are most likely chiseled in Xs and Os thank you. Listening this day to the driving force behind Gold Beach Panther Football ‘tell it like it is' reminds me of being in the eye of a hurricane. It seems stuff is always blowing around this man... Kevin Swift.

We miss you, Jay
Bringing me back to the auction. I was approached by John Lander to see if I would help fill the role as ‘auctioneer'. First, you don't tell John ‘no'. Second, I did stay in a Holiday Inn once so I said "sure." Ever since Jay Johnson was taken from us (all too soon) the Panther Nation has been floundering to a certain degree trying to find an individual that can fill this volunteer position and attempt to walk in Johnson's very big shoes.

SWOCC launches new Curry Class Schedule
The new Curry fall schedule of classes is now available at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Students can earn a certificate or degree in Curry County. As plans for the new Curry Campus building in Brookings progress, programming changes are being made to expand class offerings. A survey of Curry students completed in spring showed that while evening classes are still the most preferred time slot for classes, 3 – 6 p.m. was the second most preferred time slot.

Development workshop: Inspiring employees to excellence
A workshop to encourage and support employees to be and do their very best is being offered October 13 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Southwestern Oregon Community College Campus in Brookings. This training is a must for anyone wanting their employees to be more productive; desiring to improve morale and reduce turnover; and, those who need help in handling difficult employees

Curry talent show winners compete at Oregon State Fair
Talent Show winners, all three from Brookings, will represent Curry County at the Oregon State Fair on Sunday, September 5. Jessie Goergen will sing her powerful rendition of ‘Let ‘er Rip' that won her the trophy at the Curry County Fair and $500 cash prize for the trip to the State Fair.
